JD Miller’s Live Painting Performance with the Dallas Wind Symphony

September 4, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Thanks to everyone who came to support REFLECTION Fine Art Gallery at the Dallas Arboretum on Labor Day Sunday. Our very own JD Miller did a flawless live painting performance with WRR radio and the Dallas Wind Symphony. As the sun set over the estimated 3,000+ fans, he created the entire painting while the orchestra played, signing the completed work as the final notes of the concert rang in the huge outdoor amphitheater. A HD video crew was there to tape the performance for an upcoming documentary on the Reflectionist school of art and the 3-D Oil sculpting technique developed by JD. The painting is titled, “Tiger Flower Symphony LIVE” and will be available for purchase in an upcoming event. It will be available for preview at the gallery prior to auction, with proceeds from the sale going to the Dallas Wind Symphony. Please call 214-965-9027 to make an appointment to view this exciting new work.

JD Miller donates painting to Honduras Charity Auction

May 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Our Operations Manager, Tanner Lawley, is traveling in July to Honduras to build a house for a homeless family.  He will manage a staff of volunteers who are all donating their time and energy toward a good cause.  JD Miller was so inspired by Lawley’s mission that he donated a 3-D oil painting to help raise funds for the trip.  Taylor Art & Frame donated the custom Italian porcelain frame and Laura Baldwin took home the original JD Miller piece.  We’d like to thank Will Taylor, Gregory Beck, Dick & Nicke Hetzel, Xanthy Sotiriadis, Michael Brusard, and Randall Cass for their generous donations.

Lots of new faces came through the gallery doors on Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th. We held a special sales event for artist, Alexandra Nechita.  As Nechit’as grandmother watched, Nechita met with new collectors, dedicated works and signed her book “Hands and Dove”.

A select few of her works will be available for a limited time here at the gallery so call us if you didn’t get a chance to come in during the show. 214-965-9027

Alexandra Nechita Paints with Kids @ the Gallery

May 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

On Saturday, May 5, the gallery celebrated Cinco de Mayo by hosting an event for child art prodigy, Alexandra Nechita.  Though she is now 21 and attending UCLA, her child-like innocence radiated as she painted with the kids on paper rolled out like a red carpet covering the gallery floors.

The thing that struck me most was how the little ones were unaware they were in the presence of one of the most prolific artists of our time.  The priority of the day was to create a masterpiece while playing and I imagine many families are displaying the child’s work of art on their refrigerators.

Who knows… we may have witnessed a new creative spirit’s inspired birth as children explored color and form in water color, crayon and marker.
