Flamenco Dancers at REFLECTION Fine Art Gallery

April 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It was a night of Flamenco Dancing, Music and Art.  REFLECTION Fine Art Gallery was packed with people watching Flamenco dancing at its best.  Virginia, Sandra and Julieta danced the night away while art lovers walked through the gallery to view the current art exhibition, "Spring Reflections".  There was also live music that included David Quintana on the guitar and Alfredo Gonzales on the Cajon.  REFLECTION Fine Art Gallery is truly a place where all forms of art come to life.

AFI Dallas International Film Festival & Reflection Fine Art join WRR and Dallas Wind Symphony to present Picnic in the Park

The best place to be Sunday, Sept. 2 is the Dallas Arboretum as WRR Classical 101.1 FM presents its 13th annual Picnic in the Park featuring America’s Greatest Band – The Dallas Wind Symphony.

A new feature to this year’s event is the addition of AFI Dallas International Film Festival. AFI Dallas will present of a family-friendly movie following the concert.

The free Dallas Wind Symphony concert begins at 7 p.m. and will include such classic patriotic pieces as The Star Spangled Banner, Stars and Stripes Forever and Armed Forces Salute.  The wind symphony also will delight with some foot-stomping treats including tributes to Henry Mancini and the rock band Chicago as well as a salute to American jazz.

Following this invigorating concert, AFI Dallas International Film Festival will present “BABE,” a Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning 1995 Australian film based on Dick King-Smith’s beloved children’s novel.  This delightful family movie tells the story of an intelligent swine whose sheep herding talents just might save him from the slaughterhouse. Featuring live-action comedy with state-of-the-art special effects and performances by animal actors, BABE is an inventive, heartwarming film.

Event goers also will have an opportunity to experience the mastery of Contemporary Artist JD Miller as his art takes shape with the creation of a live painting during the Dallas Wind Symphony concert. It’s a multi-sensory performance where art & music collide. Founder of Reflection Fine Art Gallery, Miller will be on-site creating a multi-dimensional work of art. This original painting will be auctioned off at a later date with proceeds benefiting the Dallas Wind Symphony. His 3-D oil painting on canvas has captured the hearts of art collectors across the nation.

“WRR is pleased to present this annual Labor Day event featuring the Dallas Wind Symphony,” WRR general manager Greg Davis said. “We’re also thrilled that AFI Dallas International Film Festival is joining us this year and that JD Miller will be on-site creating a work of art. It truly will be an exceptional evening of wonderful family entertainment.”

WRR’s Kurt Rongey, host of The Going Home Show, will emcee the evening and WRR’s evening announcer Kevin Sutton will sing the national anthem.

Picnic baskets, coolers and blankets are welcome. Concessions also will be available. WRR will be giving away two round trip Lufthansa Airlines tickets to Europe from its booth along with other promotional booths. Numerous sponsor booths will also be drawing for great prizes.

Download the New JD Miller Song Featured In Upcoming "Song of Songs" Documentary

February 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment

If you know JD Miller, you know he’s a talented artist. Few would deny his practices in 3D Oil Sculpting have raised the bar for contemporary artists. But did you know about his musical talents? He’s been part of the musical collaboration Reflection Theory for several years with his friend Chris Brickler. And if you were on our email list or subscribed to JD’s blog, you’d know he has a new song featured in Brickler’s new documentary on love and relationships, Song of Songs.

JD had this to say about the work:

Chris Brickler and I wrote Laurels of the Canyon(Freedom) and recorded it in LA before Christmas last year. It was written in a 1920’s California bungalow on Laurel Road in Hollywood where many famous 60’s music icons lived and created music.  Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joni Mitchell, Jim Morrison, Frank Zappa, Mamma Cass Elliot and tons of others live in the ‘hood.  It’s a retro southern California folk-rock tune that captures their collective spirit.

Download JD Miller’s new song below…and don’t forget to leave your comments and tell us what you think.
